Dr. Sutter graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Industrial Administration. After working in Akron, Ohio he was sent to the Pacific Northwest for a three-month internship. A the end of this internship, Dr. Sutter married his wife, Phyllis, and they returned to Akron.
One year later, Dr. Sutter was transferred to Peoria, Illinois. It was in Peoria they decided that dental school was their goal and, upon graduation, they wanted to live in the Northwest.
Off they went for study at the University of Oregon to take advanced science courses required for admittance to dental school. At the end of the year, Dr. Sutter was admitted to Dental School at Loyola University. At graduation, Dr. Sutter was admitted to Blue Key, a national honor fraternity, and to Omicron Kappa Upsilon, an honorary dental society. He was also honored with the General Dentistry Award, at graduation, and was asked to enroll in the Loyola University Orthodontic Program.
At the end of the first year of orthodontic school, Dr. Sutter’s daughter, Danielle, was born. Dr. Sutter served as president of his orthodontic class. When he graduated from orthodontic school, his second dream was fulfilled. The family returned to the Pacific Northwest and he set up for his orthodontic practice in Tigard, Oregon. Two years after setting up this practice, his son, Brett, joined the family. Dr. Sutter practiced in Tigard for over twenty years.
In 2000, Dr. Sutter decided that he would retire from his orthodontic practice in Tigard. He then could pursue his hobbies of travel and golf. After climbing the Great Wall, swimming with dolphins, riding elephants, and playing night golf in Bangkok, Thailand, Dr. Sutter missed the friendships and challenges associated with orthodontics and decided to go into practice again. So he’s back!
The new office is located in the Hikade Dental Complex in Clackamas, Oregon.
